Name:Jan Lemeire

Bio:

Jan Lemeire is an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Sciences (INDI) and the Department of Electronics and Informatics (ETRO) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He is responsible for several bachelor’s and master’s courses in informatics and electronics. His research was in parallel computing, specifically in performance models for GPU computing and machine learning, with a focus on probabilistic models and causality. This led to several publications at conferences and in top journals, as well as to innovation projects conducted with industry and academic partners. Recently, his research shifted towards self-learning embodied agents, where he aims to address the challenges by adding a causal component to qualitative models.
